Monday - Saturday: 9.30am - 4.30pm

Sunday: Noon - 3pm

Changes to Visitor Opening Hours
Very occasionally we need to close our doors to visitors for a private service, event, filming or maintenance; or restrict access to certain parts of the Cathedral. We are aware people travel long distances to visit Ely Cathedral so we try to minimise periods of closure as much as possible.

As soon as we know about a closure the information will be posted below. Please check this page for any last minute changes prior to your visit as some events may have to be arranged at short notice.

June

Thursday 20 June
1pm – 2pm: No visitor access to the Presbytery due to a lunchtime concert. All are welcome to attend the concert.

Friday 21 June
11.15am – 1pm: No visitor access to the East End and Presbytery due to a wedding.

Saturday 22 June
10.30am – 3pm: No visitor access to the East End and Presbytery due to weddings.

Monday 24 June
9.30am – 4pm: Organ tuning. Please note this involves loud and repetitive sounds.

Wednesday 26 June
10am – 12 noon: The Octagon area will be busier than usual with ordination rehearsals.
4pm – 5pm: No visitor access to the Lady Chapel due to a service.

Thursday 27 June
1pm – 2pm: No visitor access to the Presbytery due to a lunchtime concert. All are welcome to attend the concert.

Saturday 29 June
Visitor access is 9.30am – 4pm, with last entry at 3pm, due to an Ordination Service at 5pm.

July

Tuesday 2 July
9.30am – 11am: The Octagon area will be busier than usual with rehearsals for a school event. Some visitor access and views may be limited.

Wednesday 3 July
Visitor access today: 9.30am – 1pm (last entry 12 noon), due to a school prize-giving. The Stained Glass Museum is open 10am – 5pm (last entry 4.30pm).

Thursday 4 July
No visitor access or tours today, due to school services. The Stained Glass Museum is open 10am – 5pm (last entry 4.30pm).

Saturday 6 July
12.15am – 2pm: No visitor access to the East End and Presbytery due to a wedding.

Thursday 11 July
1pm – 2pm: No visitor access to the Presbytery due to a lunchtime concert. All visitors are welcome to attend the concert.

Saturday 13 July
11.45am – 12.45pm: No visitor access to the Lady Chapel due to a private service.
1pm – 4pm: The Octagon area will be busier than usual with rehearsals for The Music of Bond. Music will be loud and some visitor access and views may be limited.

Sunday 14 July
2.30pm – 3.30pm: No visitor access to the Lady Chapel due to a private event.

Tuesday 16 July
9am – 2pm: No visitor access to the Lady Chapel due to a school careers event.

Wednesday 17 July
1pm – 2pm: No visitor access to the Lady Chapel due to a lunchtime concert. All visitors are welcome to attend the concert.
1pm – 4pm: The Octagon area will be busier than usual with rehearsals for a school event. Some visitor access and views may be limited.

Friday 19 July
1pm – 3pm: No visitor access to the Lady Chapel due to a wedding.

Tuesday 23 July

Wednesday 24 July
1pm – 4pm: The Octagon area will be much busier than usual with rehearsals for Gabrieli Roar - Verdi's Requiem Some visitor access and views may be limited.

Thursday 25 July
1pm – 2pm: No visitor access to the Presbytery due to a lunchtime concert. All visitors are welcome to attend the concert.

Friday 26 July
1pm – 3.30pm: No visitor access to the Lady Chapel due to rehearsals and a dance performance. All visitors are welcome to attend the performance at 2.15pm.

Saturday 27 July
12.15pm – 2pm: No visitor access to the Presbytery and East End due to a wedding.
2pm – 4pm: The Octagon area will be much busier than usual with concert rehearsals. Some visitor access and views may be limited.

Wednesday 31 July
4pm – 5pm: No visitor access to the Lady Chapel due to a family service.
